As a child I copied characters from the comic strip, florals from fabric and from greeting cards. Some art was taught in grade school but in high school art was a one year course. Later, following an auto accident, I took lessons from an Ursuline nun who had turned to art after an auto accident. Kyle Dalton has been selected as Artist of the Month for Legend Bank. His work is on display at Legend Bank, located at 502 North Center Street, Bonham, Texas. Following retirement he spent a great deal to time woodturning (lathe), making creative bowls and interesting vases, simply as a hobby. Kyle is a member of the South Plains Woodturning Club in Lubbock, Texas. He moved to Bonham, Texas in July, 2010, to be closer to family and a top priority was to have a shop built in his new home to accommodate his passion for working with wood. " My interest in pottery began 30 years ago when I entered college for a fine arts education and fell through the pottery studio door and never left. Tommy is the owner of A'LoniStone Studios and Gallery outside Biardstown in South Lamar County, until recently a working ceramics studio and creative hub. Artist Statement I have been a member of the Red River Photo Club since late 2007, and became an artist member of the Creative Arts Center about six months after that. I became a widow in late November 1980 and raised two fantastic kids by myself. That is when I really got into photography in a big way! There was football, soccer, softball and drill team … I did it all … and that was before digital! We moved from Mesquite, Texas to Bonham in the spring of 1986. I retired from Doris Shockley State Farm Insurance office in August 2006 where I had worked since moving to Bonham. Linda D. Cook has been selected as Artist of the Month at Bonham City Hall. Her work is on display at City Hall located at 514 Chestnut, Bonham, Texas 75418. Linda became inteested in wooden art work about 10 years ago after reading some articles in a magazine. She is completely self tught and has a full work shop. Linda uses different species of woods for her art. There is no stains or paints used, the color comes fron the different colors of the wood. Linda has over 50 different species of wood in her shop. Exotic woods come from all over the world and have different colors and grains which enhance the art. Congratulations to Linda and thanks to City Hall for supporting our local artist.

I attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. My goal is to communicate those aspects of the sporting tradition and stewardship responsibility with my work and share that with others," says Shannon. I interrupted my art studies to get married to David and raise two girls, Stephanie and Sutton. I jumped back into art, illustration and graphic design classes in 1994. Since then I have been working in several mediums. My favorite is mixed media into which I incorporate found objects, wood wire, metal, clay and even etchings. LaSonya was born in Muenster, Texas but has lived in the Bonham area most of her life.She sometimes paints under the pen name Penelope Wardell and mostly draws her influence from Pop art and culture. LaSonya graduated from Sam Rayburn I.S.D in 1997 and went to Grayson County College where she studied art under Steve Black. Transplanted into the southwest from the Chicago area, Susan has fallen in love with the desert colors, southwest architecture, and culture. Frances Robinson has been selected as Artist of the Month at the Bonham Court House for the month of December, 2012.

Frances began her painting career in the early seventies when she was signed up for a Summer art class at Mountain View College in Dallas. Finding her first attempt at painting very challenging,her teacher assured her that perseverance was more important than natural talent. She continued her classes and painted for the next four years with Mattie Kenney until the birth of her daughter. Her love of painting was derailed by the demands of a new baby and a full time job, which turned into a 35 year absence. Finally, in the fall of 2010, she began taking lessons from Jamie Carter. She still recalls her hands shaking when she started her first painting in Jamie's class. Congratulations to Frances and thanks to the Bonham Court House for supporting our artist.

Throughout Mary's life there has been many artist who have taught her and influenced her art work. Mary took lessons for several years from Paris, Texas artist Jamie Carter. Jamie laid the foundation for Mary and her art work. Jerry and Patsy Golden, Mary's parents, were also very supportive of Mary's dreams to become an artist and teacher. Mary graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M Commerce, majoring in Art Education.

Dr. John Robinson has been selected as Artist of the Month at Bonham City Hall located at 514 Chestnut. You can also stop by the Creative Arts Center at 200 West 5th Street Bonham, Texas to see more of John's work of art.
Dr. Robinson retired from a successful career at Texas Instruments and MEMC in applied research and management at the executive level. His interest in art has spanned over 30 years. His initial focus in creating art was the genre of western art based on scenes and experiences from his native West Texas. After moving to Sherman, John worked with water media to create landscape paintings but his career came first and John took a 20 year leave from any active painting.
After retirement, John actively renewed his love and appreciation of art and the numerous intellectual challenges in the broad field of art.

"My appreciation for art began at a very young age while visiting my aunt in Oklahoma who was an oil painter herself. I loved the Indians and western themes she expressed in each and every piece. I started drawing teepees and Indian scenes along the rivers of my imagination, getting my first pastels when I was 6 years old" says Merry. "When I paint, I am in a complete different plane as if I only exist spiritually. " I am a retired U.S. Postal Inspector and received training in the use of a 35mm Single Lens Reflex Camera as well as film developing and printing from negatives. As a Law Enforcement Agency the Inspection Service training was directed at obtaining true and accurate images of crime scenes as well as suspects." says Casey. His current interest in digital photography has evolved from use of digital scanner and Adobe Photoshop to restore numerous old family photos and other antiques.

Donna's creativity encompasses a broad range of media. She has used her photography skills commercially and taught classes for young artists and photographers at the Creative Arts Center. A frequent actor in Red River Community Theatre productions, Donna is also involved in the performing arts.

"I suppose I was influenced in my early life by the racks of colorful postcards on display in historical Central City, Colorado, where my family lived for a time, and then by the scenic calendars (Ansel Adams and others) that my mother always hung on our walls. I've been a hobby photographer ever since my Mom let me use her old box camera in the early fifties when I was ten. My interest grew from that first box camera to my current Nikon D40 digital SLR. I'll climb or slide into unusual spots to get "just the right angle" for a shot", says Paula.

Gene studied fine art at Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University She also studied portraiture with the late Ramon Froman. The recipient of numerous Best of Show and Judges Choice awards, including the 1989 Oklahoma Heritage Award. Gene has maintained an active commercial art career in the field of illustration. "In my art, the thing that I appreciate most is my long and loyal list of private and corporate collectors," says Gene.
