PRESS RELEASE: March 27, 2007 Local Volunteer Opportunities at the Creative Arts Center Karin White, Director of the Creative Arts Center is pleased to announce the Center’s new affiliation with the Texoma Area Agency on `Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). RSVP is a program that was established in 1987 to provide a variety of opportunities for senior citizens ages 55 and over to participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer service. RSVP is sponsored by the Texoma Council of Governments and covers Cooke, Grayson and Fannin Counties. Texoma RSVP has a membership of 900 volunteers that serve more than 100,000 hours annually at 100 locations. The Creative Arts Center is proud to have been designated as an official volunteer station with six volunteers already registered. Volunteers at the Creative Arts Center will be answering the phone, assisting visitors to the gallery and helping with artist receptions. Hours at the center are 10am-6pm Tuesday through Friday and Saturday 10am-4pm. Volunteers are free to schedule their hours to meet their own needs. The Creative Arts Center is an active cultural center in Fannin County and the only venue for local artists and artisans to display their work. The center is also the host for the Bonham Photography Club once a month. Gallery Assistant volunteers will be interacting with the various artists and teachers, as well as serving as host/hostess at the many receptions that are both private and public. The Fannin Community Foundation, Inc. is a public 501 (c) (3) charity that owns and operates the Creative Arts Center and the Second Time Around, a thrift store.
